Editing Ones Own Definition Contributions
Has anyone discovered how to edit a post of one's own making? I found the HELP page rather intriguing ... go ahead ... and find out for yourself. In the meantime, I might actually have to pull up the links Tomás emailed us.Audrey (talk) 21:54, 7 November 2012 (PST)
Answer to Editing a Post
Search for term in upper right-hand corner search box. It will take you to the definition page with an Edit button at the top of the page.
Expansion to Editing a Page
Once you're logged in, every page has an "edit" tab on the top right. That will allow you to edit the page, even a "Discussion" page like this one.
HELP Links for Website
Here are the How To links Lisa emailed us:
I also placed these links under HELP in the left sidebar.
UPDATE: Just saw that Tomas had already provided HELP links at the top of the page!
No. of Terms in the draft HGS Glossary outline
There are 1240 terms in the hardcopy draft HGS Glossary outline I sent everyone. I wonder if there is a way of keeping track of the number of terms uploaded? I envision two big boxes side by side showing 1240 in one box and the number of terms uploaded in the box next to it. Actually, there should be a way to do this because each term has its own page so somewhere in the system you'd think there was a running tally of pages ... hmmmm. More to investigate. I could tuck this tally away on 'My Talk' if this is just of interest to me.
Newest Posts at the Top of the Discussion Page
Audrey (talk) 21:50, 8 November 2012 (PST) Personally, I would like to see the latest posts at the top of the Discussion Page rather than at the bottom. Does this make more sense to everyone else? Will save a lot of scrolling, I'm thinking.
Audrey (talk) 12:30, 10 November 2012 (PST). Too cool! I just note ... ur, now ... that each topic is Indexed (with Links) at the top of this page so scrolling to the bottom for the newest post isn't such issue.
Lisa, what is your thought on undefined terms being uploaded for others to define because we may not know the definition ourselves? Audrey (talk) 07:40, 9 November 2012 (PST) Audrey, I think that is a great idea, as it allows all of us that see it to ponder and consider it. We can germinate ideas and feelings around the more challenging terms to describe in a collective think-(feeling) tank. We are all learning together how to draw a new language towards something that is an energetic experience or a feeling of frequency. We may not always have direct classical definition in 3D words, but examples in consciousness experiences. This happens a lot to me personally, and my task has always been difficult to describe it here in this language, which is largely unequipped to handle multidimensional perception! I have more of a requirement to be first in my heart, as that to me, is of primary importance of our group objective. I suggest that when creating a new page for a term without a definition , that you are presenting for the rest of our group, that you assign the term to a category so it will be seen easily in the main page and category pages under alphabetical order. Lisa (talk) 15:27, 9 November 2012 (PST)
What if I (and friends) uploaded all the Undefined HGS Terms to this category? DISCUSSION Please.
Please note that at the end of every term definition, when in the text box editor to assign the term to a category, the process is the use of brackets as in this example, except use TWO BRACKETS instead of the three listed here: [[[Category: Ascension]]] or [[[Category: HGS Manual]]]
This will assign the term to its category and you will notice it on the main page where it is sorted by Category in Alphabetical order, or you can see "ALL PAGES". If the term is in one or more categories, you can include them all in the brackets. For examples, go to any term page and click edit to see the code used in the text editor. Setting Internal Links
Audrey (talk) 11:15, 10 November 2012 (PST). To Redirect a Page to another one, for instance in the case of variation of Term name, use the CODE: #REDIRECT _(space)_then type 2 square brackets_name of destination page_2 square brackets to close. There must be NO space before # and the CODE must be the first entry on the page. FOR AN EXAMPLE: Search 'Crystal Keys' and go into the Edit Pane. (There must be a way of linking (Crystal Keys) in this post to take you directly to that page but I haven't figured that one out yet ... just reveling in this latest discover!) I LOVE this website!!!!
For HELP with Redirects:
--Pavithra (talk) 12:38, 10 November 2012 (PST) Hi Audrey, Thought I put a note here of my experiment (with toms help) with directing and re-directing between pages. Check the APIN and Great White lion pages, within the APIN I have added Great White Lion and link it to Great White lion page and then from there come back to the APIN again. After adding the GWL I saved it and then click on the link and went and added the description. This might be of help to your previous redirecting example.
This is fun indeed! ;-) Pavithra
Audrey (talk) 16:50, 10 November 2012 (PST). Thanks Pav! Will experiment. Finding working on the site pretty smooth sailing and, yes, it is FUN! (which is one of the intentions I set for the Glossary Project when I set a field for it!)
[Note to Editor/Draft:] or [NTE/D:]
Audrey (talk) 12:26, 10 November 2012 (PST). I am using [Note to Editor/Draft:] or [NTE/D:] within a definition to indicate that I don't understand something or I think something could be clarified, etc. My intention is to revisit them when I gain more clarity or to flag them for others to respond to if they have the information I seek. Please remove the Note query once its been addressed. Thanks for your help! I appreciate it!!
What Happens to All of our Links when the Glossary Joins the ES Website?
Posting to the HGS Manual Categroy
Audrey (talk) 14:24, 11 November 2012 (PST). I would like to suggest that only Terms referred to in the HGS Manual be placed in the HGS Manual Category. A good rule of thumb would be if we cannot refer to a HGS Manual Page No. for the Term, it should be placed in the Ascension Category. If you are not sure, I suggest placing the Term in the Ascension Category because I, for one, am always trolling for terms that can be Linked to the HGS Manual Glossary (and will add page numbers). I suggest this for ease in putting together the final hardcopy HGS Manual Glossary. Feedback and discussion welcome, of course.
Thank you Tomas, for your technical suave - I will attempt to follow your lead (and copy the codes you demonstrate i.e. 'Reference').
Thank you Lisa for your Editing and embellishing definitions with diagrams!
Almost 1/10th of the way there - to a comprehensive HGS Glossary!
Thank you Audrey! We are both amazed how much you have already put into the glossary, its already starting to be shaping up great. Yes, Tomas showed me last night how to do "references" and "see also", its just like wikipedia. Also he thought we should link all the newsletters to the newsletter terms. Lots to do! I am trying to break it up, do some catch up in here, and continue to work on the editing of the library on the new site and going through many transcripts of content. TY!! New Category: Definition Requests
Audrey (talk) 14:05, 25 November 2012 (CST). I've gone ahead and created this 'temporary' Category (until the Glossary is completed as to the 1250 terms identified). Lisa, if you are in agreement with its creation, can you or Tomas set it up properly? Oh, and Lisa, a term awaits you (awaits a definition) ... obviously, when you get a moment.
Contributing Member Departure
I terminated my membership in the ES Community on December 1, 2013 (effective December 6, 2013), and am no longer a contributing member to the HGS Glossary. Blessings, Audrey
