Fixed star Antares, Alpha Scorpii, is a 1.0 magnitude, fiery red and emerald green star in the Heart of the Scorpio, Scorpius Constellation. The traditional name Antares, is from the Ancient Greek Άντάρης, which means anti-Ares, or the rival of Mars, because of it similar color to the red planet.

Antares Star Astrology

Fixed star Antares is of the nature of Mars and Jupiter. It causes malevolence, destructiveness, liberality, broad-mindedness, evil presages and danger of fatality and makes its natives rash, ravenous, headstrong and destructive to themselves by their own obstinacy.

Antares is one of the 15 Behenian Fixed Stars. Its image is a man armed with a coat of mail, or a scorpion. It gives understanding and memory, help against evil spirits, and the power of driving them away and binding them. Rules sardonyx, amethyst, long aristolochy and saffron.

Antares in the constellation of Scorpio is, as its name Ant-ares says, of Martian nature, but to this Mars nature, powers of Mercury, Jupiter and also Saturn are added. Antares makes people tough, belligerent and pugnacious. This is an important star for military personnel and is said to convey mental alertness, strategic ability and courage and to make daredevils, especially if tied up with the Midheaven, Ascendant, Sun or Jupiter.

In Babylon it was Urbat in the asterism Hurrus, Divine Protector. The Babylonian title brings us to this star’s role as one of the four Archangel stars: Fomalhaut – Gabriel, Aldebaran – Michael, Regulus – Raphael, and now Antares – Uriel. The City of Ur, where Abraham was born, is said to have been the first city to be built after the Great Disaster, and was given the name of Earth itself: Urs. That city stood close to the site of later Babylon itself, not too far from the modern Baghdad. Uriel, the Archangel not mentioned in the sacred texts made available to the public, was the one who held the secret knowledge of the Great Disaster, and only revealed it to those judged able to accept it and still believe in the Divine Goodness in all that befalls us. Again this is so very Scorpio in nature that one cannot miss or deride its ring of truth.[1]
