A Stargate is a vortex of energy that connects to other dimensions within the [[Universal time space matrix|Universal Time Matrix]]. There are 12 original [[Planetary Gates]]. These were sealed by the [[Founder Races]] due to damage and control by Negative Alien Races [[NAA]].
